In the second part to my list of motivational, uplifting and inspiring songs, here’s the next ten songs I recommend hypothyroid patients give a listen to. Hope you like them!
Read the first part here.
11. Part of Me by Katy Perry
I was never keen on this song until I heard it during a particularly low time with my physical and mental health. I was fighting depression as well as hypothyroidism that wasn’t yet adequately medicated and my best friend sent this to me. It made me feel so empowered and determined to beat this thing.
This is the part of me
That you’re never gonna ever take away from me
12. Pack Up by Eliza Doolittle
And I’m trying to care a little less
When I Google I only get depressed
I was taught to dodge those issues I was told
And bury them beneath the sea
What an incredibly powerful song. Again, this song was an empowering song when I was deep in depression and physical battles with hypothyroidism. It made me feel like I could and would be better again. It gave me strength.
You can break everything I am
Like I’m made of glass
Like I’m made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper
Yep, The Script are featuring again! Yet another inspiring masterpiece of a song that must be played at full volume.
You’ve been struggling to make things right
That’s how a superhero learns to fly
(Every day, every hour, turn that pain into power)
Again, this one may not be to everyone’s liking, but it’s one of my all time favourite songs. It screams SO much emotion.
Tomorrow I will come back
Leader of the whole pack
Beat me black and blue
Every wound will shape me
Every scar will build my throne
The singer is clearly explaining how he has some days, weeks or even months that are better than others and he’s struggling at the moment. I really connect with this song in the way that, with a condition like hypothyroidism, it can be very up and down. One week I can be doing rather well and ‘flying high’, and others, definitely ‘falling low’. It’s a real belter.
In circles I’m turning
From this world I’m burning
Tell me what happens after thisSomedays I’m flying high, I’m falling low
Somedays I’m made of gold, I’m made of stone
Take back my life song
Prove I’m alright song
My power’s turned on
Starting right now I’ll be strong
I’ll play my fight song
And I don’t really care if nobody else believes
‘Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me
Sara Bareilles’ feel-good pop song should help lift your mood and inspire, with catchy lines such as
“I just wanna see you,
I wanna see you be brave!”
Look back at part one here.
What did you think to these songs? Are there any songs that you would add?
