My Motivational, Uplifting and Inspiring Songs For Hypothyroid Patients: Part Two

In the second part to my list of motivational, uplifting and inspiring songs, here’s the next ten songs I recommend hypothyroid patients give a listen to. Hope you like them!

Read the first part here

11. Part of Me by Katy Perry

I was never keen on this song until I heard it during a particularly low time with my physical and mental health. I was fighting depression as well as hypothyroidism that wasn’t yet adequately medicated and my best friend sent this to me. It made me feel so empowered and determined to beat this thing.

This is the part of me
That you’re never gonna ever take away from me

12. Pack Up by Eliza Doolittle

This feel-good pop song has the perfect lyrics for when you’re feeling stressed;
I get tired and upset
And I’m trying to care a little less
When I Google I only get depressed
I was taught to dodge those issues I was told
You gotta
Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag
And bury them beneath the sea
So give it a listen and pack up your troubles.
13. Save The World, Get The Girl by The King Blues
This song never fails to help me feel a bit happier and more positive. With some witty lyrics and a catchy chorus, you can’t go wrong.
14. Skyscraper by Demi Lovato

What an incredibly powerful song. Again, this song was an empowering song when I was deep in depression and physical battles with hypothyroidism. It made me feel like I could and would be better again. It gave me strength.

You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I’m made of glass
Like I’m made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper
15. New Shoes by Paolo Nutini
Who doesn’t feel invincible when they’re wearing new shoes? This fun, yet scarily accurate song always gets me dancing around the room or toe-tapping. Forget about your troubles for a few minutes with this tune from Paolo Nutini.
16. Superheroes by The Script

Yep, The Script are featuring again! Yet another inspiring masterpiece of a song that must be played at full volume.

When you’ve been fighting for it all your life
You’ve been struggling to make things right
That’s how a superhero learns to fly
(Every day, every hour, turn that pain into power)
17. Throne by Bring Me The Horizon

Again, this one may not be to everyone’s liking, but it’s one of my all time favourite songs. It screams SO much emotion.

My favourite lines are:
So you can throw me to the wolves
Tomorrow I will come back
Leader of the whole pack
Beat me black and blue
Every wound will shape me
Every scar will build my throne
Get ready to take anything on.
18. Flying High, Falling Low by Walking on Cars

The singer is clearly explaining how he has some days, weeks or even months that are better than others and he’s struggling at the moment. I really connect with this song in the way that, with a condition like hypothyroidism, it can be very up and down. One week I can be doing rather well and ‘flying high’, and others, definitely ‘falling low’. It’s a real belter.

My favourite parts of the song that I feel relate to living with hypothyroidism:
Please, I’ve had enough
In circles I’m turning
From this world I’m burning
Tell me what happens after thisSomedays I’m flying high, I’m falling low
Somedays I’m made of gold, I’m made of stone
19. Fight Song by Rachel Plattern
This one speaks for itself. It should be your mantra.
‘Fight Song’, with the lyrics:
This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I’m alright song
My power’s turned on
Starting right now I’ll be strong
I’ll play my fight song
And I don’t really care if nobody else believes
‘Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me
Helped motivate me through a really difficult time with depression and thyroid issues, encouraging me to fight for the treatment I deserved and come out the other side so much stronger.
20. Brave by Sara Bareilles

Sara Bareilles’ feel-good pop song should help lift your mood and inspire, with catchy lines such as:

“I just wanna see you,
I wanna see you be brave!”

Look back at part one here.
