Spoon Theory

Many patients use the spoon theory to explain to their loved ones how they get through the day and is a metaphor those with a disability, people with chronic illnesses and/or autoimmune disease. For example, used to explain the reduced amount of energy available for activities of daily living and tasks, often called having a limited ‘number of spoons’.

In my support groups I am often asked how best to convey the theory as having to explain every detail of day your struggles can often be hard to vocalise. Below I include my blogs which explain what the spoon theory is:
